About this video
How far can you rise if you deny what you truly are? The Sweet Performance of Bubblegum Plant is a surreal animated short about a flower that severs its roots in an attempt to deny its true nature. Only to discover that reality has a way of bringing it back to where it truly belongs. Through surreal imagery and visual metaphor, the film explores identity, transformation, and the inevitable pull of our nature, suggesting that growth begins not by escaping who we are, but by accepting it. Structured as a quiet visual performance, the story gradually builds tension through a series of increasingly surreal events, where each attempt to break free ultimately reveals the quiet force that pulls the flower back to its origins. The original soundscape and voice-over were created by Giovanni Dubini, whose performance brings the flower to life through expressive vocal acting. By reflecting the character's emotions and physical effort, it reveals a distinct personality without facial expressions, demonstrating how sound alone can make an inanimate object feel alive. Software: Houdini, Redshift, Adobe CC, Substance 3D
